How to track postal and express items
To be able to track items imported by express cargo companies such as EMS, DHL, FEDEX, etc., postal item numbers and tracking numbers of the concerned items are required. Postal items are trackable at http://ems.epost.go.kr, and express items on the Cargo Tracking page of the Korea Customs Service website.
When postal and express items are withheld in the Customs
In the following cases, please refer to the detailed clearance guidelines sent to consignees by mail or cell phone;
- In the case of postal items in excess of 150,000 won a duty-free allowance
- In the case of restricted items(e.g. pharmaceutical items with uncertain ingredients, items subject to quarantine, and items in excess of quantity allowance, etc.)
If the clearance guidelines are not received, it may have been incurred due to errors in the consignee's address and cell phone number so please contact Korea Post at 02-2108-9895, or Incheon Airport International Postal Customs at 032-720-7400.
In case of express items in excess of the duty-free allowance(less than 150,000 won in total taxable value) or restricted items(e.g.pharmaceutical items with uncertain ingredients, items subject to quarantine, and items suspicious of IPR infringement, etc.), the express cargo company conducting clearance may inform this matter to the consignor. If there are no clear guidelines from the express cargo company conducting clearance, it may have been incurred due to non-existing or inaccurate consignee's contact information so please reconfirm the contact information through the consignee.
